De kievit als boegbeeld voor vergroening van de melkveehouderij
In de periode 2019 t/m 2021 is een pilot uitgevoerd om diverse vergroeningsmaatregelen voor het nieuwe Gemeenschappelijk Landbouwbeleid (GLB) te testen. Doel van de pilot was om een manier te vinden voor een goed inpasbare, effectieve en efficiënte vergroening van de melkveesector, met de kievit als uithangbord. De pilot is uitgevoerd vanuit het perspectief van de kievit en het leefgebied dat deze soort nodig heeft, rekening houdend met de inpasbaarheid binnen het boerenbedrijf. Veel maatregelen voor de kievit betekenen niet alleen winst voor de kievit zelf, maar ook voor biodiversiteit, landschap, water, bodem en klimaat.
