Ko-kalv kontakt (CCC) systemer, hvor kalvene opstaldes sammen med malkekøer, er under udvikling og vurderes at lade dyrene udvise en mere naturlig moder- og dieadfærd. Kalve i CCC systemer har generelt bedre tilvækst, specielt før afvænning, end konventionelt opfostrede kalve. Forskellige strategier for CCC systemer varierer alt efter mængden af kokontakt og diegivning der tillades. Her beskrives et CCC system med ammekøer.
