Sustainable grassland utilization - EIP project video
How can farms survive in the long term on grassland that is difficult to manage? The EIP project in Baden-Württemberg investigated this question. On the Hiera farm in the Upper Black Forest, the Vorderwald cattle forage for themselves on the pastures in summer and are fed hay without the addition of concentrates in winter. The idea not only contributes to animal welfare, but also means labor savings for the farmer. It also pays off economically - and thus creates a basis for securing farm succession.
