GO INVASOR-ES
Resilience 4.0 of infrastructures and crops to invasive species
About project
The INVASOR-ES Operational Group aims to establish a new paradigm in the fight against Invasive Alien Species (IAS) in hydraulic infrastructures, especially in irrigation systems. Unlike traditional methods—which often rely on corrective measures without precise criteria to determine biocide doses based on the degree of infestation, leading to overdosing, corrosion of facilities, and environmental damage—INVASOR-ES proposes an innovative solution. Using artificial vision and autonomous, intelligent monitoring stations, the project seeks to develop a reference model to improve the detection and control of IAS at various larval and adult stages across different irrigation communities and water networks. This approach reduces negative impacts and optimizes resource use. Its main strengths include: Smart solutions for defense against IAS, improving response and management capabilities. (i) Autonomous dosing stations that assist water network managers by optimizing treatment application. (ii) An expected 80% cost reduction in the fight against IAS, increasing economic efficiency. (iii) Environmental protection, by minimizing the use of chemical substances and supporting the restoration of native species.
