Sensor-supported automatic gap detection for targeted reseeding

Automatic gap detection and targeted reseeding using LED sensors for efficient seed use

or

Detail description

Reseeding grass swards with sensor-supported gap detection using LED technology ensures precise seed distribution, reducing waste and costs. Farmers tested the system on existing gaps, using harrowing and prism rollers for oversowing. The sensor detects sward gaps automatically, enabling targeted reseeding. Despite high initial costs, the system offers significant seed savings. An experimental plan was developed to evaluate performance, with farmers contributing real-world data to refine the sensor and control system. The Düvelsdorf system aims to improve efficiency and accuracy in grassland management.
