Special Feature: The New Way of Farming

In the ‘Het Nieuwe Telen (HNT) Gas Erop!’ project, four green higher professional education (HBO) institutions and the green senior secondary vocational education (MBO) sector have joined forces to accelerate the adoption of HNT through education. ‘Het Nieuwe Telen’ (HNT) is a cultivation method based on new insights into greenhouse climate, combined with a different role for the grower. Whereas cultivation strategies in the past focused primarily on energy savings with a minimum of technical investment, HNT is based on the needs of the plant. A plant in balance is a more resilient and higher-yielding crop. This not only requires less energy but also delivers better product quality with reduced use of crop protection products.
