Compost-Innov: Biochar-Enhanced Organic Fertilizer from Biowaste
Transforming organic waste into high-performance biofertilizers for sustainable agriculture
or
Detail description
The COMPOST-INNO project transforms organic waste—such as market residues, pruning waste, and poultry by-products—into high-quality biofertilizers. A portion is composted, another converted into biochar, and the most effective compost is enhanced with microbial biostimulants. Trials show improved soil fertility, increased crop yields, and enhanced carbon sequestration. This sustainable solution reduces reliance on chemical fertilizers, supports circular economy principles, and addresses logistical challenges in organic waste management for Greek farmers.
