Neural network for remote sensing using FORSAID

Neural network for remote sensing in forest and nursery pest surveillance

or

Detail description

Remote sensing and deep learning enable automated, large-scale monitoring of forest health. FORSAID uses neural networks trained on field-verified pest-affected trees to detect damage in satellite, drone, and aircraft imagery. The system identifies key tree species, maps pest damage locations and timing, and predicts future outbreaks. This supports early intervention, enhances forest resilience, and complements tools like automated traps and eDNA. Funded by the European Union’s Horizon Europe programme.
