Enhancing Livestock Sales via Mobile Auctions and Quality-Based Bidding

Mobile livestock auctions to boost farmer income through quality-based bidding and market competition

or

Detail description

This project enhances livestock market value through mobile auctions and quality-based bidding. It develops a methodology for organizing mobile auctions, including procedures, requirements, and a dedicated software program. Equipment will be procured, and at least two auctions—covering meat and breeding stock—will be conducted. The project assesses economic impact on farms, aiming to shift sales from live-weight contracts to real market pricing. By enabling competition among buyers, it targets a 5% increase in cattle prices, potentially boosting breeder incomes by 10 million EUR annually. Quality-based bidding rewards high-yield and high-quality cattle, with average carcass prices rising by 18% for superior animals. The initiative is funded by the European Union and accessible via EU-FarmBook.
