Directrices para la Incorporación de sistemas ecosostenibles para la mejora de la extracción de aceite de oliva virgen
España, el primer productor mundial de Aceite de Oliva dispone de un buen número de instalaciones dedicadas a la producción de Aceite de Oliva de diferente elaboración y calidad. En la actualidad existen en España más de 1.700 almazaras, distribuidas por 13 Comunidades Autónomas, siendo Andalucía donde se concentra el mayor porcentaje (45%). En el caso de Andalucía existen cerca de un millón y medio de hectáreas que la convierte en la tierra olivarera por excelencia desde hace miles de años. En ningún lugar del mundo crecen más olivos ni se producen tanto aceites de oliva virgen extra. En la provincia de Almería existen unas 20.000 hectáreas dedicadas a este cultivo de la que sale una producción del 90% tipo virgen extra. Este novedoso sistema combinado incorpora dos nuevos equipos al proceso productivo del aceite de oliva virgen extra, formado por un Protorreactor y un Separador Vertical. El Protorreactor, sustituye a la tradicional batidora, reduciendo el tiempo de dicha etapa en un 30% aproximadamente. Permite operar a temperaturas inferiores al trabajar a alta presión, además disminuye el contacto con el oxígeno. Bajo estas condiciones se consigue una menor degradación de los compuestos que forman el aceite de oliva, obteniendo como producto final un aceite de oliva virgen extra con alto contenido en polifenoles.

A Bio-inspired Multilayer Drainage System
Agricultural run-off and subsurface drainage tiles transport a significant amount of nitrogen and phosphorus leached after fertilization. alchemia-nova GmbH in collaboration with University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna developed two multi-layer vertical filter systems to address the agricultural run-off issue, which has been installed on the slope of an agricultural field in Mistelbach, Austria. While another multi-layer addressing subsurface drainage water is implemented in Gleisdorf, Austria. The goal is to develop a drainage filter system to retain water and nutrients. Both multi-layer filter systems contain biochar and other substrates with adsorption properties of nutrients (nitrogen, phosphorus). The filter system can be of practical use if an excess of nutrients being washed out is of concern in the fields of the practitioner by keeping the surrounding waters clean. This approach may result in economic value by re-using the saturated biochar as fertilizer and improving the soil structure, thus increasing long-term soil fertility. As the membranes are biobased, degradable materials, they can after use be added to the soil, thus returning the leached nutrients back for their original purpose providing fertilizers (nutrient recycling).
