Effective Employee Management on Farms

Management involves organizing resources and teams to support farm growth, with effective leadership crucial for staff retention and motivation. Beyond pay, positive human relations, clear communication, and tailored management styles—such as directive, persuasive, delegative, and participative—are essential. Successful management requires training, defined procedures, and balanced workloads to boost productivity and morale. Delegation should follow needs assessment, and employee input should be encouraged. The Resilience for Dairy (R4D) project, funded by the EU’s Horizon 2020 programme, supports these practices through frameworks assessing economic, social, environmental, and animal welfare resilience.
