SheepNet farmers' views on PLF for sheep production

Sheep farmers' perspectives on precision livestock farming and electronic identification in the EU

or

Detail description

SheepNet, an EU-funded project involving six main sheep-producing countries and Turkey, gathered farmer perspectives on Precision Livestock Farming (PLF) and electronic identification (EID). Through a survey, 64% of respondents recognized PLF as beneficial, yet only 38% used EID-based tools. Key motivators included better flock management, time savings, and reduced labour. Major barriers were high equipment costs, small flock sizes, and limited access. The findings highlight the gap between perceived potential and actual adoption across EU sheep farming.
