Organic and no-till – is that possible?

Report on no-till trials in organic farming within a multi-year system from 2019 to 2023. Objectives: to compare two tillage methods – ploughing and no-till – applied to a variety of crops and to measure their effects on: soil contamination, soil structure, soil biodiversity, carbon balance, nitrogen leaching, labour time, fuel consumption, mechanisation costs and gross or net margin. A range of detailed findings and recommendations based on the various technical approaches are set out in this document. Conclusions: it is possible, but not always easy!
