Decision Support Systems for Smart IPM in Vegetable Crops

Enhancing sustainable pest and disease management in European vegetable crops through data-driven decision support systems

or

Detail description

Decision Support Systems (DSS) in the SmartProtect project integrate IoT, meteorological data, and historical pest records to generate risk indices for early detection of crop pests and diseases in vegetables. Targeting tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, lettuce, alliums, and cabbages, the system supports proactive management in open fields and greenhouses. Developed under EU Horizon 2020 (grant No. 862563), the project enhances cross-regional knowledge sharing of Smart Integrated Pest Management (IPM) solutions, promoting sustainability and crop safety through data-driven decisions, farmer training, and region-specific educational materials.
