Mycorrhiza in sustainable agriculture

Symbiotische Pilz- und Pflanzenbeziehung zur Verbesserung der Nährstoffaufnahme und Dürrebelastbarkeit in der Landwirtschaft

Λεπτομερής περιγραφή

Mycorrhizal fungi form symbiotic relationships with plant roots, enhancing nutrient uptake—especially phosphorus and nitrogen—improving drought and disease resistance, and increasing water use efficiency. In agricultural systems, especially in intensively managed soils lacking natural colonization, mycorrhizal inoculants are applied via granules, liquid formulations, or seed coating. These methods, including a newly field-tested seed coating technique, support sustainable farming by reducing reliance on chemical fertilizers and pesticides. Mycorrhizae are key in climate change adaptation, promoting soil health and resilience in the face of increasing drought and declining pesticide use.
