Analyzing Genotype x Environment x Management Interactions to Predict Potato Variety Performance
This study adapts a wheat-derived genotype x environment interaction method to potato, analyzing yield variability of 10 varieties under irrigated and dry conditions and diagnosing key stresses. It assesses multiple predictive models, notably PLS regression, for their ability to forecast variety performance and water stress tolerance in new environments.

Подробно описание
This paper presents an adaptation of a genotype x environment interaction analysis, initially developed for wheat, to a network of potato variety trials conducted between 2009 and 2011. The authors compared yield performance of ten potato varieties under irrigated and dry management, partitioned yield variability into varietal, environmental, and interaction components, and performed an agronomic diagnosis to identify major yield-limiting stresses such as water deficit and temperature effects during tuber bulking. Several predictive models, including PLS regression, were implemented to characterize variety responses and evaluated for their ability to predict differential performance and water stress tolerance in untested environments, revealing an advantage of PLS-based approaches.
